Kenseth finds fuel magic others can't to win at Pocono

LONG POND, Pa. — Matt Kenseth led only two laps Sunday, but one of them was the one leading to the checkered flag.

To say his win in the Windows 10 400 was surprising is to dramatically understate the case. Kenseth had not won in 31 previous Cup races at Pocono Raceway, and he rarely shines in fuel-strategy races.

But Kenseth was sitting in the right spot Sunday when first race leader Joey Logano, then June Pocono winner Martin Truex Jr. and finally Kyle Busch, the hottest driver in the series, ran out of fuel in the twilight laps of the race, opening the door for what Kenseth said was his first fuel-mileage victory (of 33 Cup wins).
