SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Carolina Panthers’s star wide receiver, Kelvin Benjamin, will return to Charlotte to have an M.R.I. on his left knee after he was injured and carted off the field during a scrimmage Wednesday morning with the Miami Dolphins.
Coach Ron Rivera said the preliminary diagnosis was a sprained knee, but Benjamin will have additional tests to make sure there is no ligament damage.
“Everybody is trying to be positive and hopefully the good news will come later this afternoon,” Rivera said after practice.
It’s unclear how long Benjamin would be sidelined.
