One of the hardest things to come by in sports is objectivity without emotion. You can find desire on the fields, devotion in the stands and anger on the radio.
The opposite is true for those who write about sports. The notion of not cheering in the press box is an old one, but still in effect. Just ask any writer who gets a little too excited about a play, regardless of the sport or season, and then has to deal with the glares from fellow reporters.
Of course, every writer, even those who violate the press box rule, has the goal of being objective.
