Kase Wynott at Wazzu was fate

Growing up just 63 miles from Pullman, a college basketball career at Washington State University was always in the cards for Lapwai’s Kase Wynott.

“I love Wazzu,” Wynott said. “The plan for me and my father was always to come here. That was always the goal.”

After a standout high school basketball career at Lapwai in which Wynott won three state titles and became Idaho’s all-time leading prep scorer, the path to Pullman became clear.

Wynott entered college with the impression that he would redshirt his freshman year.

Then, injuries to key players plagued the Cougars’ season and Idaho’s high school scoring king stepped onto the court earlier than he, first-year WSU coach David Riley and his staff expected.
