Colin Kaepernick will meet with a doctor Monday to set a date for shoulder surgery on his non-throwing arm that could keep him from contact for up to six months.
Kaepernick, who the 49ers placed on season-ending injury reserve on Saturday, is expected to make a full recovery, but that timetable could complicate a trade out of San Francisco.
Kaepernick sustained the injury Oct. 4 in a loss to the Packers. The 49ers initially thought it was a minor injury that would heal but Kaepernick asked for a second opinion when his shoulder still hurt him during the 49ers' Week 10 bye.
