Justise Winslow silences NBA age limit supporters, including his father

MIAMI — Justise Winslow looks every bit the successful rookie that he is. As a swarm of reporters fills the Heat locker room after Thursday’s 108-92 victory against the Suns, the 19-year-old gently absorbs good-natured ribbing by his veteran teammates, all while displaying a reserved but confident demeanor in front of the media.

But that sight is not what Winslow’s father, former pro basketball player Rickie Winslow, had envisioned for players only one year out of high school. The elder Winslow, who played seven NBA games in 1987 and spent years playing in Spain and Turkey, has stated he thinks players should be required to spend two years in college before they are eligible to enter the NBA draft.
