Justin Rose is fresh off winning an historic gold medal in Rio, but also has a major championship. That has some wondering which one he cherishes more. In diplomatic fashion, Rose answered that question Tuesday in his pre-Barclays news conference by saying winning gold was "unique" compared to his other golf accomplishments.
Rose won the U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club in 2013 after outlasting Phil Mickelson and Jason Day. The British golfer has been a staple on European Ryder Cup teams and is a multiple PGA Tour winner. While the Olympics were a success, people have to realize it will never replace — or be on the same level as — the majors.
