Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez and two friends killed in a boat wreck off Miami Beach in the early hours of Sept. 25 smelled strongly of alcohol when their bodies were recovered, the Miami Herald reported , citing a search warrant affidavit.
The warrant, released Wednesday by the Miami-Dade state attorney’s office, alleges that whoever was driving Fernandez's 32-foot speedboat had it moving a high rate of speed and with a “recklessness’’ that was “exacerbated by the consumption of alcohol.”
