Johnny Manziel's substance-abuse issues date to Texas A&M, report says

Johnny Manziel has faced substance-abuse issues since early in his days in college, a longtime friend who was a roommate at Texas A&M told Vanity Fair for a long profile of Manziel.

The story — under the headline "The Fight to Save Johnny Manziel from All-Out Self-Destruction — recounts Manziel's regular use of marijuana, the prescription anti-anxiety drug Xanax (frequently ground up and snorted while also consuming alcohol) and MDMA, a form of Ecstasy known as "Molly," that, according to the story, allegedly also was used with cocaine on occasion.

Although the account cites several unidentified sources, one person who spoke on the record was Steven Brant, Manziel's "longtime best friend" who was a high school teammate at Kerrville Tivy and with another friend from Kerrville, Nate Fitch, roomed with Manziel at an off-campus residence.
