John Cena, who is now presumably finished with the second season of his reality show, returned to "SmackDown Live" on Tuesday night to challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble in San Antonio.
Cena has been largely absent from WWE programming for the past few months due to outside commitments — such as a high-profile gig hosting "Saturday Night Live" — but he should be back for the WrestleMania season. And not a moment too soon, as star power has been sorely lacking on the blue brand ever since September, resulting in months of a never-ending Dean Ambrose-AJ Styles-James Ellsworth feud to fill time.
