Jimmie Johnson asks Dale Earnhardt Jr. to wear father's firesuit at Darlington

Jimmie Johnson is already driving a race car at Darlington to honor Dale Earnhardt Sr., but the six-time NASCAR champion wants an authentic 1979 piece of memorabilia to go along with it.

Driving a blue and yellow No. 48 on Sunday to pay tribute to Hall of Famers Earnhardt and David Pearson, Johnson asked Dale Earnhardt Jr. to borrow one of his father's firesuits to complete his retro look.

"He's texting me, he's like, 'You got one of your dad's old uniforms and all that stuff?'" Junior said on his podcast, via NASCAR.com. "He wanted to actually wear it to intros, and it would fit probably.
