FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — After doling out a mammoth contract to sign Darrelle Revis, the Jets owner Woody Johnson still has another $100,000 to pay.
That is the fine meted out by the N.F.L., which determined that the Jets violated the league’s anti-tampering policy in January when Johnson said that he would love for Revis to play for the Jets again — while Revis was still under contract with the New England Patriots.
Johnson’s remarks, which came in response to a question posed at a news conference addressing the firings of John Idzik and Rex Ryan, explained why the Jets chose not to pursue Revis when he was a free agent.
