Jay Bilas and Jim Delany to receive major awards from Basketball Hall of Fame

Two of the most active voices in changing college basketball in recent years – ESPN’s Jay Bilas and Big Ten Conference commissioner Jim Delany – will receive major awards from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this autumn.

Delany will receive the Curtis Bunn Award for lifetime achievement. It is considered the highest award presented by the Hall aside from enshrinement.

Bilas was named winner of the Curt Gowdy Award, which recognizes excellence in basketball media work.

A starter at Duke on its 1986 Final Four team, Bilas had been a professional player, basketball coach, attorney and even an actor – the 1990 science fiction film “I Come In Peace” was one of his credits, although it somehow managed not to wind up on his IMDB page.
