Jamaica deals U.S. stunning loss in Gold Cup

It had been a wild and nervy first half for the United States in their Gold Cup semifinal match against Jamaica, and then, half an hour in, everything bubbled over.

Off of a set piece, Darren Mattocks flicked a perfect header into the far post that would’ve gone in even if the marking had been tight enough and the goalkeeper had been in perfect position.

Then, just over five minutes later, Giles Barnes hit a beautifully curled free kick into the top shelf to make things 2-0 heading into half time.

Michael Bradley pulled back an unattractive hustle goal off of a deflected Aron Johannsson attempt in the second half, but Jamaica would hold out to win 2-1, snapping the United States’ 26-game unbeaten streak at home.
