Inside Tiger Woods' big third-round push at The Open

CARNOUSTIE, Scotland -- Tiger Woods started the day on the periphery at The Open. He was six shots back of 54-hole co-leaders Kevin Kisner and Zach Johnson. He was in the mix, but he wasn't. He had a lot of ground to make up at Carnoustie. He needed a low round to really be in the conversation. There was hope. After all, coming into this Saturday at The Open, he was ranked No. 1 on the PGA Tour in third-round scoring.
