Landing the NBA’s marquee coaching job required a series of breaks—Monty Williams rejected the Lakers' overtures, then Ty Lue before Vogel, a year removed from a disappointing two-year stint in Orlando, was tabbed—but then, so didn’t Vogel’s NBA coaching career.
