It looked like Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever were headed toward a signature victory over the reigning WNBA champion New York Liberty.
Spurred on by a pair of Clark 3-pointers to close the third quarter, Clark and the Fever had erased a 15-point, first-half deficit and built a 12-point lead of their own with 8:35 to play. But, a four-and-a-half minutes long drought during the final frame ultimately doomed the Fever in an eventual 90-88 loss against the Liberty. The Fever dropped to 2-2 on the season.
Clark finished with 18 points on 6-of-18 shooting from the field and 2-of-11 shooting from 3-point distance.
