Herb Sendek can name pretty much every coach in major sports history who has gone from being fired to winning a championship: Bill Belichick, Joe Torre, Doc Rivers … he could go on with his list for a while.
If he were to look at this year's NCAA Tournament bracket, he'd notice even more coaches who’ve been dismissed and are now in the postseason, coaches like Bob Huggins and Bill Carmody, Rod Barnes and Joe Dooley. Tubby Smith became Sporting News’ 2016 National Coach of the Year.
