Hendrick-Byron deal creates buzz as Sprint Cup teams try to copy Gibbs success

Not too long ago there were questions about the talent level of young NASCAR drivers, especially in Sprint Cup racing. Now, it seems teenagers are everywhere in developmental plans.

Hendrick Motorsports on Thursday signed a long-term contract with William Byron, who at 18 is the points leader in the Truck Series. Byron will join Hendrick next season with an Xfinity Series ride.

It's a smart move by Hendrick, plucking Byron away from the Gibbs stable.
