Multiple current and former George Washington basketball players have complained about an abusive environment fostered by coach Mike Lonergan, the Washington Post reported Thursday.
According to complaints, Lonergan made inappropriate personal comments, openly bashed the school administration and used homophobic slurs.

“I don’t think the guy should be in sports,” one former player told the Post. “I don’t think what he said should be tolerated. I would like to stay at GW. I will not play for Mike Lonergan.”
In the five years Lonergan has been at the helm of the Colonials' program, 13 players have transferred out, including three since the end of the 2015-16 season.
