The Giants announced the hiring of Gabe Kapler as manager on Tuesday. He replaces Bruce Bochy, who retired in 2019 after 13 seasons in San Francisco.
Kapler joins the Giants after two seasons as the Phillies' manager. Philadelphia failed to reach the playoffs in either season under Kapler, going a combined 161–163 in the last two years. The Phillies lost nine of their last 12 to close 2019 en route to a fourth-place finish in the NL East.
The former Phillies manager has some big shoes to fill in the Bay Area.
