ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Near the midpoint of the fourth quarter Sunday, the Giants were living a recurring nightmare.
Despite being underdogs against the Buffalo Bills, they had surprisingly dominated the early play. But in the fourth quarter, they were struggling to protect the lead they had built, something they had also done in each of their previous three games this season. One of those contests had nonetheless ended in victory; two others had not.
On Sunday, it was the Bills who found new energy late in the game, pulling 6 points behind the Giants before a roaring, reinvigorated home crowd.
