Georgia State fires head coach Trent Miles

Georgia State fired head coach Trent Miles on Saturday, a source told SI’s Pete Thamel.

The Panthers fell to Louisiana Monroe 37–23 on Saturday, dropping them to 2–8 this season. They are just 9–38 in Miles’s four-year tenure and have regressed this season after going 6–7 in 2015 and reaching the Cure Bowl.

Miles was the second head coach in the short history of Georgia State’s football program. The team began playing in 2010 and quickly jumped from the FCS to the FBS in 2013, Miles’s first season. The Panthers went 0–12 in that first year and 1–11 in 2014 before finally finding success last year.
