There’s this video going around of Gabby Douglas not celebrating hard enough for Simone Biles, which is like the picture of Douglas not putting her hand over her heart during the national anthem in that it is ridiculous. People are looking for a reason to be mad because Douglas has disappointed us. She was our star four years ago, and now she’s 20 and she’s washed up (even though she’s not washed up).
Missy Franklin was our star four years ago, too. She and Douglas were the American teenagers who stole the show in London, their talent awing us en route to gold medals all over the place.
