Francesco Molinari, Finding a Masters Comfort Zone, Takes a Share of the Lead

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Francesco Molinari is rarely included in the featured pairings of top golfers selected by tournament officials to galvanize fan interest and boost television ratings. Galleries do not crowd the holes he is playing. At most major championships, like this week’s Masters, Molinari tours the golf course largely unrecognized.

Molinari, the reigning British Open champion, the world’s seventh-ranked golfer and a winner just last month on the PGA Tour, keeps his head down and marches on.

“There’s obviously loads of great players in golf right now; I think I’m getting the attention that I deserve,” said Molinari, who played with Tyrrell Hatton and Rafa Cabrera-Bello.
