Former Northwestern guard Johnnie Vassar filed an antitrust lawsuit on Monday against the the school and NCAA, claiming the governing body's transfer regulations violate federal antitrust laws.

Vassar's class-action lawsuit wants to abolish the NCAA's rule requiring transfers to sit for a year. Vassar claims Northwestern officials forced him to surrender his scholarship by misleading and intimidating tactics in order to free up his athletic scholarship for another player.

DECOURCY: Transfers aren't killing the game

According to the Daily Northwestern, Vassar was placed on an “internship,” during the 2014-15 season in which he worked as a janitor, and was allegedly told by coach Chris Collins he had no future with the team.
