Former Florida State record-setting All-American dies after battle with cancer

Florida State is mourning the loss of one of its own on Sunday. Monk Bonasorte, an All-American football player and longtime athletics administrator for the school, died Saturday night after a battle with brain cancer. He was 59.

"I am heart-broken to share the news that Monk has passed," FSU athletics director Stan Wilcox said Sunday. "Monk was a loyal, dependable giant of an athletics administrator who's hard work and dedication to Florida State and Florida State Athletics extended into the larger FSU and collegiate athletics communities. Monk was a devoted, highly-respected athletics staff member who was beloved by all who came to know him.
