Food poisoning leaves NHL's Predators scrambling for healthy players

This could be messy. Ahead of Saturday's game against the Penguins, numerous Predators players were stricken by food poisoning.

Saturday's morning prep work was sparsely attended at best. The bigger problem: having enough healthy players available for the night's 8 p.m. ET faceoff in Nashville.

GM David Poile told media members the outbreak's cause was chicken soup players consumed on Friday.

"We've got a lot of guys sick," Poile said. "We really don't know exactly where we are right now ... we've got some things in play."

Austin Watson and Matt Irwin, who had been skating with the Predators' AHL Milwaukee affiliate, were in Nashville if needed.
