Jimbo Fisher, the football coach at Florida State, announced Thursday night that the freshman quarterback De’Andre Johnson had been suspended indefinitely for “a violation of athletic department policy.”
ESPN reported that the player punched a woman at a bar in Tallahassee, Fla., on Wednesday night.
The Tallahassee Police Department issued an incident report that was heavily redacted and does not include Johnson’s name. He has not been charged with a crime.
In recent years, several Florida State football players have been accused of wrongdoing, and in some instances the police department appeared to conduct slow or incomplete investigations.
