WWE received some bad news Monday morning after crowning Finn Balor as the first Universal champion Sunday night at SummerSlam. It turns out that Balor suffered an unknown injury to his shoulder and will be on the shelf for a while, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. The extent of the injury is unknown, but surgery is rumored. Balor was seen wearing a sling after the show.
The injury was believed to be suffered when Seth Rollins powerbombed Balor into the guard rail outside the ring, which is eerily similar to the same circumstances that ended the career of Sting last year.
