The WNBA gave the people what they wanted with Saturday's matchup between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky to open both teams' respective 2025 season. And viewers responded by watching Caitlin Clark face Angel Reese in record numbers for ABC/ESPN.

Indiana's 93-58 win over Chicago drew an average of 2.7 million viewers, according to ESPN PR. The audience peaked at 3.1 million viewers. That's the highest audience for a WNBA regular season game across ESPN networks and is also believed to be the largest viewership for a WNBA regular season broadcast in the past 25 years, since the league first began airing games originally on NBC.
