Trevor Bauer, professional wild man, struck out 14 over seven innings of three-run ball Tuesday. The 14 strikeouts are the most for an American League pitcher this season. Bauer has allowed three or fewer runs in four straight starts. Only two of those outings have been quality starts as manager Terry Francona has learned to pull the plug on Bauer before he loses control. Opposing hitters are hitting .235 against Bauer the first time through the order, .274 the second time and .305 the third time.

As I wrote yesterday, Robbie Ray was headed into a favorable matchup against Pittsburgh.
