Exeter Chiefs axe head coach four weeks into role after latest humiliation

The fallout from Exeter’s humiliation at Kingsholm has deepened as Rob Hunter, the head coach who was suspended earlier in the week, departing the Chiefs “by mutual agreement”.

Hunter, at Sandy Park since 2013, had only started the role of head coach just over a month ago but will now depart Exeter “following a period of consultation”.

“We extend our sincere thanks to Rob for his substantial and valued contribution over many years,” the Chiefs said in a statement. “His commitment and professionalism have played an important role in the club’s journey.”

On Monday, Telegraph Sport reported how Hunter had been suspended alongside Ali Hepher in yet another dramatic coaching overhaul at the struggling club, who currently sit in ninth place in the Premiership table.
