Emma Raducanu booked her place in the third round of the Italian Open with a confident 6-2, 6-2 victory over lucky loser Jil Teichmann on Friday afternoon under the Rome sun.
The Briton, who had never won a match in the Italian capital before this year, sealed victory with an ace after breaking her Swiss opponent four times across two sets.
Raducanu was originally due to play 21st seed Ekaterina Alexandrova but the Russian was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to a shoulder injury.
The Briton, through to the third round for the first time, will play Russian Veronika Kudermetova next.
