Eagles fire Kelly after three years

Chip Kelly is officially free to coach wherever he want to in 2016. In a shocking move, the Philadelphia Eagles announced on Tuesday that Kelly has been released from his contract.

"We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward," Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement.

The team will hold a press conference on Wednesday to officially announce the move. Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur will handle the team's coaching duties on Sunday during the Philadelphia's regular season finale against the Giants.

Besides Kelly, the Eagles also dumped Ed Marynowitz, the team's vice president of player personnel who was handpicked by Kelly.
