Dustin Johnson completed his first round at the P.G.A. Championship on Thursday with a six-under-par 66, finishing his round as the leader in the clubhouse.
Johnson, who started on the back nine, opened with consecutive birdies, then eagled No. 16, sinking a 27-foot putt. After the turn, he added birdies on 1, 2 and 4. His only bogey came on the par-3 third after a failed up-and-down.
Johnson, 31, has won nine times on the PGA Tour but has yet to win a major, though he has been frustratingly close.
