AUGUSTA, Ga. — Another major, another chance for Dustin Johnson to roll a 54-hole lead into a 72-hole victory.
Johnson spent Saturday taking apart Augusta National, decimating the course for a bogey-free -7 round that left him four strokes ahead of the field and in position to claim his first green jacket.
The only thing keeping the golf world from expecting Sunday to be an 18-hole coronation is this: Johnson has held and blown four 54-hole leads in majors, most recently at this year’s PGA Championship. It’s the most of anyone who’s failed to convert even one of those leads into a victory.
