It looks like we have an NFL version of the board game "Clue," a real whodunit. The denouement seems to be: Tom Brady, in the locker room, with a pair of scissors. Colonel Mustard found him.
Well, maybe not the good colonel, but an eagle-eyed football fan who decided to squeal on Brady to the football gendarmes, aka Boston talk radio, and solve (create?) the Case of the Missing Shield.
