Once regarded as the centerpiece of the Nets’ efforts on the court and in their marketing department, point guard Deron Williams unceremoniously parted ways with the team on Friday when he agreed to a buyout of the remaining two years of his contract, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.
Rumblings that Williams would sign a free-agent contract with the Dallas Mavericks once the agreement was final and he cleared waivers were reinforced early Friday night, when Williams’s wife, Amy, uploaded a picture montage to her Instagram account featuring various photographs of her family in Texas-related paraphernalia.
