David Ortiz makes homer history on otherwise painful night for Red Sox

Each night in the 2016 baseball season, we'll run down the top news, facts and highlights from action around Major League Baseball.

Age is just a number for David Ortiz.

The Red Sox designated hitter continues to soar in his final MLB season. Wednesday against the Rays, Ortiz blasted his 30th home run of the season in the first inning. The two-run shot gave Big Papi 30 for the season along with 100 RBIs. At 40 years, 9 months and 6 days old, Ortiz is now the oldest player in major league history to hit 30 long balls in a season and the oldest player with at least 100 RBIs in a season since Dave Winfield in 1992.
