Former Saints star Darren Sharper, convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting nine women in four states, was sentenced Thursday in federal court in New Orleans to more than 18 years in prison, nola.com reported.
Saying he made "heinous decisions," Sharper told U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo before she handed down the sentence, "I would like to apologize a thousand times to (the victims)," but adding that he understood his words might ring "hollow" to those he hurt.
One of Sharper's victims appeared to confirm that as she spoke in court, crying through prepared remarks, but, nola.
