Dale Earnhardt Jr. retiring 'Amelia' to his car graveyard

After three hard wrecks in 2016, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s favorite car, "Amelia,” will race no more.

Chassis No. 88-872, better known as “Amelia,” after famous pilot Amelia Earhart, will join a collection of other torn-up race cars in a racing graveyard located on Earnhardt's property north of Charlotte, N.C.

Earnhardt took Amelia to victory lane in last year’s Geico 500 as well as the July Daytona race. The restrictor-plate chassis also owns a third-place showing in the 2015 Daytona 500 and a runner-up finish in the Talladega Chase for the Sprint Cup race.
