The Arizona Diamondbacks have selected Vanderbilt shortstop Dansby Swanson with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.

Swanson, a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, is the first college shortstop to go selected first overall since Brown University's Bill Almon in 1974.
