Cubs-Giants NLDS: Will Clark jerseys bring back memories of epic 1989 NLCS

CHICAGO — The 1989 NLCS between the Cubs and Giants featured arguably the greatest head-to-head playoff showdown between two hitters in baseball history.

Cubs first baseman Mark Grace hit .647 (11-for-18), with three doubles, a triple, a homer and eight RBIs in the five-game series

Giants first baseman Will Clark hit .650 (13-for-18), with three doubles, a triple, two homers and eight RBIs.

Truly epic stuff.

I was 13 years old when that series happened, and I had no dog in that fight — in fact, I kinda despised both teams — but I was in awe of the hitting display put on by those two first basemen.
