Cowboys express 'disappointment' in Randy Gregory's drug suspension

The Cowboys' response to defensive end Randy Gregory's four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy was short but hardly sweet.

Executive vice president Stephen Jones' one-paragraph statement, released by the team Sunday:

“This is a disappointment. We have been clear with Randy about what his responsibilities are and what is expected of him. This is something that he is going to have to work through and correct.”

Gregory — who tested positive for marijuana at the NFL Scouting Combine last year and, thus, was put in the NFL's substance-abuse program — failed three drug tests during the 2015 season, so he'll be suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2016 season, the league announced Friday.
