In a time when race relations in America are being examined under a microscope, many disturbing stories are emerging.
Here's yet more fuel for the national discussion: On Wednesday, University of Colorado chancellor Phil DiStefano told CU's board of regents that athletes on the university's main Boulder campus call the Dal Ward Athletic Center "The Plantation." The nickname refers to the fact that black athletes in revenue-rich CU sports such as football and basketball feel it's unfair they help pay for scholarships in non-revenue (and mostly white) sports such as golf and tennis.

"Even though the black football players and men's basketball players are getting a free education and a free ride, everything they do pays for the young white female playing tennis or on the golf team or track and field," DiStefano said, via the Boulder Daily Camera.
