Clayton Kershaw, who hasn't pitched since June 26 because of a herniated disk, made his first rehab start Saturday in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
And the results were exactly what you'd expect when a lefthander widely regarded as the best pitcher in baseball pitches in a Class A Advanced game. Kershaw needed only 34 pitches to get through three scoreless innings against the Modesto Nuts, the Rockies affiliate. Kershaw struck out five, and the only hit against him, a weak infield single, was erased on a double play.
"Fastball and slider were pretty decent," Kershaw said, via MLB.
