Chiefs' Stellar Defense Still Good Enough When New-and-Improved Offense Falters

There was no reason why the Kansas City Chiefs' Monday night win over the Denver Broncos should have been close at any point. There was no reason for knuckles turning white, and allowing a team that calls Trevor Siemian its quarterback to hang around in your building.

That was true the moment the Chiefs went up by two touchdowns midway through the first quarter. It was even more true when their two-touchdown lead held at halftime.

Yet by the end of the third quarter the Chiefs offense had gone from white hot to washed out, and the Broncos clawed back to within one score during a game that seemed destined to be a loud divisional thumping.
