Former Detroit Tigers outfielder Chet Lemon died May 8. He was 70 years old.

Lemon played in MLB for 16 seasons, the last nine of them from 1982-90 as a member of the Tigers after a contract clash sent him from the Chicago White Sox to Detroit. He had his most memorable season in 1984, when he was named an American League All-Star and played a huge role on the Tigers' World Series-winning team.

Lemon had been suffering from multiple health conditions since his retirement in 1990. He appeared at Comerica Park on August 31, 2024, for the 40th anniversary of the team's 1984 world championship in his last public appearance with the Tigers.
