Chad Green helps new-look Yankees linger around playoff picture

Yankees fans were singing Chad Green's praises Monday night.

The 25-year-old hurler struck out 11 batters in six shutout innings for a 1-0 victory over the Blue Jays — a team they're trying to catch in the American League East. It was an especially impressive feat considering this was just Green's fifth career start.

Green became the second rookie in Yankees history to record at least 11 strikeouts with no runs and no walks in a game. Stan Bahnsen was the other when he did it in August 1968 at Boston.
